A shipment has several moving parts
A proposed vessel movement depends on more than a sailing date. Cargo readiness, loading arrangements, terminal access and the receiving party's requirements all need to be considered together.
Share the intended route, cargo quantity and timing with the relevant parties early. Where information is provisional, distinguish it clearly from a confirmed nomination or agreed operational window.
Keep changes visible
Changes to quantity, timing or destination can affect more than one counterparty. Maintain a shared record of current requirements and communicate updates to the parties responsible for storage, shipping and cargo handling.
A useful update identifies what changed, what remains unconfirmed and who needs to respond. Avoid relying on an earlier schedule once a material assumption has changed.
Confirm the handover points
Before proceeding, confirm the operational contacts, documentation requirements and responsibilities at loading and discharge. Vessel suitability and terminal acceptance must be reviewed with the relevant operators and shipping counterparties.
Coordination helps the parties work from consistent information. It does not replace the applicable contracts, operator approvals or written confirmation of the agreed scope.
Dean Logistics B.V. provides coordination services. Storage terminals, tanks and vessels referred to are operated by third parties. All third-party arrangements are subject to verification, availability, due diligence and contractual agreement.
