Petroleum tanker berthed beside a storage terminal

Planning / Dean Logistics B.V.

What makes a well-prepared petroleum logistics enquiry?

From product specifications to delivery windows, the details that help counterparties assess a cargo movement.

All insights

Start with the cargo

Identify the product, specification and quantity, including the unit of measurement. EN590 diesel, Jet A-1 and crude oil have different handling considerations, so a product name alone may not be enough for a terminal or carrier to assess the requirement.

Share available specifications and safety documentation. If a detail is not yet known, mark it as pending rather than assuming a value.

Define the movement and timing

State the loading and discharge locations, preferred transport mode and earliest and latest acceptable dates. Distinguish a firm delivery requirement from a preferred window.

If storage is needed, include the proposed location, duration and whether inbound or outbound handling is part of the request. Flag any dependencies, such as a vessel nomination that has not yet been confirmed.

Make responsibilities clear

Identify the supplier, buyer and operational contacts where available. Explain which services you are requesting and which arrangements are already in place.

A complete enquiry supports a more focused review, but it does not establish availability or secure a booking. Proposed services, responsibilities and commercial terms should be verified and confirmed in writing before operations begin.

Dean Logistics B.V. provides coordination services. Storage terminals, tanks and vessels referred to are operated by third parties. All third-party arrangements are subject to verification, availability, due diligence and contractual agreement.
